Have A Look At What's Been Happening.
It's where I post the latest articles about my sessions and other photography related information. What else can I say?...
St Albans is a beautiful historic market town set in Hertfordshire. St Albans Registry Office or The Gatehouse, an imposing Victorian building, makes a wonderful venue for any civil ceremony wedding . The building is surrounded by a large beautiful garden with an impressive cannon outside the main entrance, which also provides an unusual backdrop for any wedding photography (and also a great way for me to get that extra bit of height when I need it).
Okay so this post isn’t strictly about wedding photography, however, I think 60 years together has got to be something to celebrate.
When I got contacted to cover a 60th wedding anniversary that is exactly what I thought. 60 years is definitely something that needs to be celebrated and I was more than happy to help with taking a few shots of the evening.
Wing is one of those gorgeous villages nestled in the Aylesbury Vale. If you’re looking for it on the map you will find it between Aylesbury and Leighton Buzzard. It’s also home to Ascott which is part of the National Trust.
With such a beautiful setting in store I jumped at the opportunity to photograph a wedding there.
When people contact me for a headshot photography session one of the first things I explain is that the session will take place either at their office, home or other location of their choice. With a lot of people working from home I am often faced with comments of “my house is a mess”, “the house is a tip” or in this case “the house is a bit of a building site at the moment”.
Most of the time these are the code words for “sorry, I’ve been really busy just lately and haven’t got around to doing the house work”.
The time for nail biting and hitting the F5 key has passed (well for another month at least) and the results of the Image of the Month competition run by The Guild of Photographers are in.
It was a testing month this time round as I entered some images that I wouldn’t usually enter and went with some landscapes that I took in Polzeath (Cornwall) last year.
A Qualified Professional Photographer
After months of work, hair pulling, crying and generally just wanting to give up I finally had the email that I had been waiting for. The email that said, “Just to let you know that the panel have judged your submission, and I am very pleased to tell you that you have passed, congratulations!”
…especially if it’s for a comedy actor
For this headshot photography session it was just a short journey to Loudwater, High Wycombe (which I appreciated after spending the day on Oxford Street with another headshot photography session). It was just what I needed as well, after a day of men in suits a good laugh was very much the ticket.
A commercial photography question
With my commercial photography I aim to capture what your brand means. Your brand is so much more than just your logo or the colours that you have chosen for you website. Your brand is you, it’s your passion and energy that is the heart of your business. It is what your business or product means to you.
So where did this question of “What does freedom feel like for you” come from?
Lifestyle family photography, is it a minefield?
When I get an enquiry for lifestyle family photography I never know where I’m going to be. It could be that when I pull up I’m faced with a huge mansion with large windows and high ceilings, or it could be a small one bedroom flat.
I got asked the other day if I could help something with Mindful Photography? It was a question that threw me, as at first I didn’t have a clue what they were talking about, so I left the question with an… “Errmm, can I get back to you?”
