How Has COVID-19 Impacted The Photography Industry - The Survey
You Are Not Alone
There is no question that COVID-19 has had a huge impact on all of our lives and it will continue to affect our daily lives for some time to come. As a photographer I have seen my business go from what I expected to be my best year yet to nothing. It has been heartbreaking only being able to stand in the sidelines watching as the events unfold and the bookings that I had in the diary simply disappear almost daily.
The important thing that I need to remember as I face another month without any income is that I am not alone. As photographers it doesn’t matter what genre you specialise in, there are other photographers out there who want to support you not only during this period of social distancing but throughout your career. For me the groups include The Guild of Photographers, The Societies of Photographers and Nina Mace Photography (She is brilliant with family photography and offers some great advice).
With time on our hands it is all too easy to fall foul of the trap of reading what is happening to individual photographers who post their horror stories. Stories that will then fuel our minds with the nightmares of what will happen to our own individual photography businesses.
To help you all to see the full picture I have put together a short survey for full and part-time photographers which I am hoping will give an overall picture on how COVID-19 has affected the photography industry.
The survey will only take a couple of minutes and the more photographers who take part the better picture we will gain. As soon as I have enough completed surveys I will release my results so you can see how the industry as a whole is being affected along with the individual genres.
