A Traditional Wedding (And I Learned Something New)
Okay so it’s fair to say I have done wedding photography at a few weddings now, however, that doesn’t mean that I’m not still learning. It seems with each wedding I go to there is always the opportunity to learn something new.
The wedding I was at here was a more traditional wedding held at the Our Lady of Peace and Blessed Dominic Barberi in Early (Near Reading, Berkshire). Although it was a traditional wedding there was still room for a slight twist that even caught out those who set up the room ready for the wedding.
The couple getting married were Spanish and it’s their tradition that the bride stands on the right as you are facing the altar (I know you are thinking about that now but we Brits do this the other way around).
The Bride Wasn’t The Only One Getting Walked Down The Aisle
Another new thing to me was that the bride was not the only one who got walked down the aisle. The Groom was accompanied down the aisle by his mother. Again this is another spanish tradition and gave me more practice at capturing those aisle shots.
The Wedding Ceremony
Fortunately for me the rest of the ceremony continued as I would have expected with the vows, rings, readings, etc. All in all it was a beautiful wedding and it just goes to show that you can always learn a new thing or two.
