Has your wedding photographer let you down?
Being let down by your wedding photographer is one of those things that many couples dread happening. That moment when you get the call or email from your wedding photographer telling you that they can’t make the date of your wedding.
The panic sets in how will you find another photographer with only a few weeks to go?
The main thing to do is don’t panic. Don’t just go out there and get the first wedding photographer that is available. Take your time and have a look around as this could be a blessing in disguise.

You have already done your research so you may not need to go through the whole searching thing again. Try contacting the wedding photographers that you looked at before. Many wedding photographers will welcome the opportunity to take on a late notice wedding if they are available.
Some photographers, like myself, will also offer discounts for a late notice wedding.
If you didn’t make a list it will be a case of looking around again. Don’t be afraid to ask for a discount though. With only a few weeks to go you may be able to get discounts of 10%, 20% or even more. It never hurts to ask and they can only say no.

The clock is ticking?
There are of course other reasons why you may be looking for a last minute wedding photographer. Perhaps at the time you thought you didn’t need a wedding photographer at all. Maybe a friend or family member has offered to pay for a wedding photographer as a gift for your special day.
Whatever the reason, or how long you have left, don’t rush into anything.
don’t rush into anything
Even if you are feeling under pressure to find someone make sure that you still do things properly. There are wedding photographers out there who will agree to your wedding photography at a low rate and at short notice.
Make sure that you check them out.
How professional are they?
A good way to tell is if they are qualified (or higher) with a recognised organisation.
Do they have insurance?
Make sure that they have the public and professional insurance (some venues may need to see this).
Make sure you sign a contract
Contracts aren’t just for the photographer. A contract is there to protect you as well.
View their gallery
Have a look around their website they will usually have a gallery of images. When looking make sure that the images are consistent in the way that they look, if not it could be a clue that they have not been take by the photographer.
Ask to see a client gallery
Some wedding photographers may have actual galleries that they have sent to couples that they are able to share. (this may not always be possible due to data protection)
Have a look at reviews and testimonials
Reviews and testimonials on a website are usually from previous clients. Don’t be afraid to ask if you are able to contact a previous couple about their experience. (this may not always be possible due to data protection)
